Cory Sylliaasen | PT, DPT
Cory originally hails from the great state of South Dakota. He was raised in Irene and attended Mount Marty College where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Chemistry. He went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Creighton University. Since then Cory, has practiced outpatient orthopedics, home health, inpatient and skilled nursing physical therapy. He has worked exclusively in the outpatient orthopedic setting since 2001 with an emphasis in sports medicine. Cory has been trained in Postural Restoration and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association. He lives in Wahoo, Nebraska and volunteers in numerous community organizations.
Mike Spicka | PT, DPT, OCS
Mike grew up in Wahoo, NE and is a graduate of Bishop Neumann High School. He went on to the University of Nebraska at Omaha and received his degree in Exercise Science. He completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Des Moines University in Des Moines, IA. He enjoys treating patients of all ages and a wide variety of orthopedic conditions. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy and Nebraska Physical Therapy Association. Mike lives in Wahoo where he enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Carla Kastl | PTA
Carla was raised on a farm by Valparaiso, Nebraska. After graduating from Raymond Central High School she attended the University of Nebraska-Kearney for two years studying Athletic Training and then transferred to Clarkson College in Omaha. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Business Management degree where she received an Academic Excellence Award and received an Associate of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant degree. Carla has been working for Makovicka/Sylliaasen since 2010 and has special interests in geriatrics as well as orthopedics. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association.
Kendra Simons | PTA
Kendra was raised in Yutan, Nebraska and graduated from Yutan Public Schools. She then attended Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri, before attending Nebraska Methodist College in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated with an Associates of Science degree in Physical Therapist Assistant with honors and was initiated into the Educated Citizen Honor Society at Nebraska Methodist College. Kendra is certified in Graston Technique and is interested and experienced in orthopedic and geriatric care. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association. Kendra became a member of the Makovicka-Sylliaasen Physical Therapy team in 2012.
Shane Meyers | PTA
Shane was born and raised in Ashland, Nebraska where he attended Ashland-Greenwood High School. He attended Clarkson College and obtained his Associates of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant degree. Shane is a current member of the American Physical Therapy Association as well as the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association. His clinical interests are orthopedics and sports related injuries, especially football. Shane currently lives in Brainard, Nebraska, and joined the Makovicka/Sylliaasen team in February 2014.
Jennifer Volkmer | PTA
Jennifer was born and raised in Syracuse, Nebraska. After graduating from high school, she attended Briar Cliff University, in Sioux City, Iowa, where she was a member of the softball team. She earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in Health, Physical Education and Recreation and minor in Human Resource Management. Jennifer then moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she attended Methodist College and obtained her Associate of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant degree.
Wendy Mach | ATC, LAT
Wendy was born and raised in Prague, Nebraska and graduated from Bishop Neumann High School in Wahoo, Nebraska. After graduation she moved to Vermillion, South Dakota and attended the University of South Dakota and played softball. After suffering a career ending injury she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she obtained an Athletic Training degree as well as had the opportunity to work with the Husker volleyball and football teams while working as the head athletic training student. She is a current member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association.
